He’s Baaaack: Pierluigi Oliverio Receives San Jose Planning Commission Appointment

The Mayor and a majority of the San Jose City Council appointed former colleague Pierluigi Oliverio to the city’s Planning Commission. Despite the fact that Oliverio was accused of sexually harassing and verbally abusing his female Chief of Staff while he was serving on City Council, Mayor Sam Liccardo, Vice Mayor Chappie Jones and Councilmembers Dev Davis, Johnny Khamis, Lan Diep and Pam Foley saw no issue with appointing him. The lawsuit, which the City settled out of court, cost San Jose taxpayers $10,000. The lawsuit filing contains the abusive language attributed to Oliverio.

Since terming out of office in 2016, Oliverio, who has a long anti-affordable housing voting record, has been on the hunt for his next political gig. Thus far he has run for Mayor of San Jose, Congress,  Santa Clara County Supervisor and Santa Clara Valley Open Space Authority.  After losing all four bids, he went on to seek an appointment as a San Jose Unified School District Trustee earlier this year.  He lost that appointment as well.  He then decided to go back to his old stomping ground and try his luck with some former coworkers, since the sixth time is the charm.
