“Injustice Anywhere is a Threat to Justice Everywhere”

Today, we celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. We reflect and honor his commitment to improving the lives of thousands of Americans, while continuously putting his own life at risk. We respect his non-violent approach, we are grateful for his courage and wisdom.  He was a man of action and his unyielding desire for equality has forever changed our nation.  Yet, with all the progress that has been made, we must recognize that Dr. King’s work is not done. Today, let us not simply remember and celebrate his legacy, but let us recommit to continuing his fight for justice, civil rights, the eradication of poverty and equality, because as he noted in Letter from a Birmingham Jail, “injustice anywhere is the threat to justice everywhere.”
