Santa Clara County

Rural/Metro

The County board of supervisors will accept a report from the County Public Health Department relating to performance of Rural/Metro as  the 911 exclusive operating area ambulance provider.  Since January 2013, Rural/Metro’s response time performance has consistently met or exceeded the contractual response time performance standards.  Just a year ago, the company was found in material breach of contract because of poor response times. The EMS Agency recommends that the Board of Supervisors not release an RFP or re-bid for ambulance services. They argue that Rural/Metro’s performance has been good and it is unlikely that a competitive process would result in terms as favorable to the County as the existing contract with Rural/Metro.
