Luis Alejo Announces Bid for Monterey County Supervisor

Yesterday, Assemblymember Luis Alejo announced his candidacy for a seat on the Board of the Monterey County Supervisors.  This was somewhat unexpected, as many had thought he would jump in the ring for the newly open Congressional District 20 Seat, created by Sam Farr’s retirement.  In his announcement, Mr. Alejo sighted a myriad of problems in Monterey County he intends to solve.

With his decision, the field for California’s 20th Congressional District is starting to clear.  Mr. Alejo, joins Senator Bill Monning and former Assemblywoman Anna Caballero as big names who have declined to jump into the Congressional Race.  Leaving former Congressman Leon Panetta’s son, Democrat James Panetta, and Pacific Grove Councilmember, Republican Casey Lucius as the two most likely candidates.
