SBLC Political Director Says Goodbye

After nearly five years with the South Bay Labor Council (SBLC), Political Director David Urhausen is leaving to pursue a new opportunity with SEIU-UHW’s political leadership team where he will continue to fight for working families in the labor movement. David, who has time and again shown his keen understanding of the South Bay’s political landscape, has been instrumental in successfully driving the mission of the South Bay Labor Council. As Political Director, David was at the forefront of formulating campaign strategies, overseeing field campaigns and representing the labor movement in numerous political arenas. Among his many accomplishments while at the Labor Council were the successful campaigns of Measure A -the billion-dollar affordable housing bond for Santa Clara County, Measure E- the initiative that granted access to increased hours for part-time workers in San Jose, as well as running the field program for labor’s successful independent expenditure campaign to elect Ash Kalra to State Assembly. David is widely considered one of the best Labor Council Political Directors in the state.

Prior to leading the Labor Council’s political program for the 2016 and 2018 election cycles, David served as the Campaign Manager for Measure E in Milpitas, where he ran the day to day and field operations for a sophisticated ballot measure campaign.  David got his start in politics at the California Democratic Party where he was the assistant to the Finance Director.
