Santa Clara County Trades Orientation Program Celebrates 24 Graduates

Last week, 24 community members from all walks of life celebrated their graduation from the Santa Clara County Trades Orientation Program.

The graduates ranged from an 18-year-old former foster youth to a single mom in recovery to a Vietnam War veteran. They all had one thing in common: seeking a good, family-supporting career.

Through their hard work and dedication, they are now well on their way to entering that pathway into a rewarding career in the construction trades.

Most of the graduates are already in the process of applying for apprenticeship in their trade of choice, including Sheet Metal Workers, Electricians, Ironworkers, Carpenters, Cement Masons, Painters, Roofers and more.

The Trades Orientation Program is coordinated by Working Partnerships USA and supported by the Santa Clara Building Trades Council, along with many other labor and community partners. Through TOP, community members who are homeless, low-income, victims of human trafficking, re-entry, former foster youth, veterans, and others who face challenges to finding a good job can receive support and training to get on the pathway to a construction career.
