Vic Ajlouny, a controversial campaign operative and conservative firebrand, is setting himself up to have considerable sway over the San Jose City Council. Ajlouny served as a campaign consultant for four sitting City Councilmembers: Johnny Khamis, Dev Davis, Chappie Jones and, until recently, Tam Nguyen. Ajlouny is also running District 9 candidate Pam Foley’s race.
In the past Ajlouny has backed the City’s most anti-working family candidates and policies. Former Mayor Chuck Reed and former Councilmember Madison Nguyen, whose attack of City workers caused a massive exodus of public safety officers, were both Ajlouny clients.
Political consultants do not earn much money working for Council candidates. So why would Ajlouny work for so many? The answer may come from Milpitas, of all places, where Ajlouny used his Milpitas City Council connections to advance the interests of well-paying business interests. Now Ajlouny may be planning to bring that unethical business model to San Jose.
