Santa Clara County – 5/29/14

Senior Meal Funding

Supervisor Dave Cortese is leading the effort to restore funding for meals cooked on site for the Senior Nutrition Program.  During the April CSFC  (Children Seniors Families Committee) meeting, the Department of Aging and Adult Services was asked to provide the Board with information regarding the feasibility of restoring cook-on-site meals to the meal sites in the City of San Jose.  At the same time, the City of San Jose completed an request for proposal for senior nutrition program services.  The only bidder was Compass Group USA, Inc (Bateman).  In their proposal, they stated that the cost for providing cook-on-site meals would be $1,900,000.  From the information provided, it is expected that $400,000.00 will be sufficient to cover the county’s share of cost for cook-on-site meals plus provide a small reserve for incidentals that come up in the contracting process.

San Jose – 6/3/14

Medical marijuana regulations

This issue has been moved along on the schedule and now will be heard June 3rd. Approval of the proposed ordinances would result in the establishment and implementation of a medical marijuana regulatory program, and establish Land Use regulations for the collectives. Approval of the ordinance amending title 6 will establish a registration process pertaining to medical marijuana collectives and regulations pertaining to collectives; and to the individual cultivation and use of medical marijuana.

A memo from Councilmember Rocha states that he believes that collectives shouldn’t be allowed in the CG Zoning District as they can located near residential areas, which are heavily trafficked by residents.
