San Jose

When San Jose City Councilmembers meet next week (today’s council meeting was cancelled because of yesterday’s holiday) there may be another chance to revive the effort to crack down on Wage Theft in San Jose.  The need for an ordinance to keep unscrupulous employers from cheating their workers has the support of a few of our more fair minded San Jose leaders.  When Mayor Reed’s allies refused to approve the discussion on Wage Theft in a summer Rules Committee meeting, the issue was tossed over to the priority setting session on September 9.

 Santa Clara County Office of Education

The Board will hear an appeal on Wednesday September 3, from Spark Charter School, after its conditional approval was rescinded by the Sunnyvale School District.  This item will be placed on the Board agenda for a vote on October 1.

Sunnyvale

Sunnyvale City Council members will spend all day today planning policy topics to take on.  The issues include:

– Civic Center Campus and Main Library
-The Ability of Infrastructure to Support Development and Traffic
-Open Space Acquisition Planning; Future of Golf Courses
-Downtown Sunnyvale.
