Petition Takes Aim at Pot Club Controls

Marijuana collective owners have a chance to overturn the San Jose City Council’s new restrictions on pot sales, now that they’ve overwhelmingly qualified to put a referendum on the 2016 ballot.  Mayoral hopeful Sam Liccardo helped lead the charge to adopt regulations that many are saying will actually increase crime.  After collecting more than 41,000 signatures in an effort to ease restrictions on where pot clubs can do business in town, the City Clerk certified that was more than enough to qualify the measure.  The marijuana collectives don’t have the option of moving to County jurisdiction because the Board of Supes, including mayoral candidate Supervisor Dave Cortese to ban dispensaries on County land.  The City Council will decide Tuesday whether to certify the petition and let the issue go to voters, or just accept the changes it asks for. http://thelefthook.com/wp-includes/js/tinymce/plugins/wordpress/img/trans.gif
