Khanna Running Low on Funds

With a little more than two weeks until the election, latest fundraising numbers released by the Federal Elections Commission (FEC)  show that the campaign of Congressman Mike Honda’s challenger, Ro Khanna, doesn’t have enough funds to meet its payroll and rent for the remainder of the campaign.
The FEC report shows that as of October 1, 2014, Ro Khanna’s campaign had only $77,126.03 in unencumbered cash, less than the approximately $80,000 he spent on just campaign staff payroll and rent in September. The Khanna campaign reported holding $218,106.35 in cash and $140,980.32 in debt. Congressman Honda’s campaign reported holding $964,638.14 in cash and no debt.
“With less than 20 days to go until Election Day, Ro Khanna is 15 points down and in the position of deciding whether to spend his little remaining cash on his large staff or on continued attacks on Congressman Honda. Our campaign has nearly $1 million in cash, $900,000 more than Khanna, and we are just now starting to spend the majority of our resources when voters are paying the most attention to the election,” said Honda Campaign Manager Doug Greven.
Khanna’s campaign has spent more than $4 million so far, most of it ($3 million) before the June primary, which Khanna lost by 20 points despite enjoying a 3-1 spending advantage over the Honda campaign.
