Liccardo Campaign: A Pattern of Ethics Violations

The Liccardo for Mayor Campaign broke multiple San Jose laws, according to a complaint filed yesterday with the City’s Ethics Commission and obtained by The Left Hook.  The violations include a failure to file a report for an in-kind contribution of a voter list from Vice Mayor Madison Nguyen.   The Liccardo Campaign sent this letter to the contacts on that  list.

The voter list is almost certainly worth more than the $1100, which makes the contribution a violation of San Jose election law.  To make matters worse, the list appears to have come from Nguyen’s City Council office, which makes the contribution an illegal gift of public funds.  Because mayoral candidate and City Council member Sam Liccardo has omitted  such donations in the past, the complaint alleges the candidate intentionally hid the donation in an attempt to mislead the public.

I’m sure the Merc will be reporting on this soon.

…If they can figure out how to spin it for Liccardo.
