Registrar Requests Investigation Into IT Director’s Sudden Departure

Santa Clara County Registrar of Voters Shannon Bushey is asking the California Secretary of State for a post-election review of the Registrar’s “systems and processes”, according to this letter sent today.

The department’s Information Technology Manager abruptly walked off the job the day before The November 4th General Election. Bushy says the timing of Joseph Le’s departure raises questions about the integrity of the County’s ballot sorting and counting process, and the tabulation of results.

However, in an interview yesterday with NBC Bay Area’s Technology reporter Scott Budman, Bushy assured voters there had been no impact whatsoever on election returns, including those ballots still being counted in the race for San Jose Mayor.

In the letter Bushy said she was requesting the review to address the concerns raised by the public and news media and reassure the public.
