Progressives are lining up behind state legislative aide Tim Orozco in the race to permanently serve out the rest of the District 4 SJ City Council term. When the Santa Clara County Democratic Party voted last night to endorse Orozco, congressional aide Allen Chiu gracefully bowed out of the race and threw his support behind Orozco as well. Chiu chose to serve party unity and make sure the district is represented by a strong progressive candidate, given the many conservative candidates in the race. Dem party progressives praised Chiu for his team player move.

The young Dem has a bright future ahead as he navigates his way through Silicon Valley politics. Chiu has been building up his political experience working for Congressman Mike Honda and CA Senator Barbara Boxer. His involvement in community organizations and his knowledge of District 4 will serve him well in the future, as many expect to see him back in the political limelight.
