Orozco Gaining Ground With Fundraising

Late-comer to the  District 4 SJ City Council race Tim Orozco managed to raise more money than his opponents in the most recent filing period, giving him a comfortable pile of cash going into the primary election.

Orozco edged out Lan Diep $18,382.35 to  $18,149.00.  Manh Nguyen continued to rack up donations, mostly in non-monetary contributions (aka: air time on his own radio station).

It’s clear that Lan Diep has a large number of small-donor Vietnamese friends and family. It also shows friends that were connected professionally throughout the country, and lots of Republican money with Santa Clara County Republican Chair Charles Munger, Jr. among his donors.

Both Bob Dhillon and Manh Nguyen still have sizeable war chests to get them through the primary, but they raised the lion’s share of their money at the beginning of the campaign meaning they could be running out of steam.

Among the other candidates in the race, Richmond Police officer Khoa Nguyen raised just $400 this filing period, Rudy Nasol brought in $1299,  Alex Torres shows he has just over $3300, but he’s in the red after loaning himself a few thousand. Johnny Lee, has just about enough money in his campaign coffers to buy himself lunch: $12.19.
