Kalra Gets Cops’ Endorsement for Assembly Race

The San Jose Police Officers Association may have had a rocky relationship with much of the SJ City Council, but the cops are throwing their support behind Councilmember Ash Kalra in his race for State Assembly.

Kalra says he was honored to get the police officers’ endorsement.  He’s been a steadfast supporter of theirs on the Council.  Kalra is way out ahead of potential and announced opponents in the race to succeed Nora Campos, who terms out next year in the 27th Assembly District.  So far, human rights activist Cong Do, former SJ Vice Mayor Madison Nguyen and Santa Clara County School Board President Darcie Green have announced their intention to succeed Campos.  Rumored to also be interested in the spot are current SJ Vice Mayor Rose Herrera, and newly elected SJ Councilmember Magdalena Carrasco.   Ash is clearly the strong horse in this race.
