Madison Nguyen Courts Labor for Assembly Campaign

Former San Jose City Council member Madison Nguyen is set to launch her campaign for State Assembly to succeed Nora Campos in 2016.  She’s sending invitations for her May 29 kickoff to local labor leaders, hoping to gather their support along with some of the much less labor-friendly allies she has, including former Mayor Chuck Reed.  Among the other supporters she lists are former California State Controller Steve Westley and County Assessor Larry Stone.  She has quite the catch-up game to play with her former colleague on the Council, Ash Kalra who passed the $100K mark months ago in his campaign for Assembly District 27.  Kalra is also a solid favorite with some strong endorsements including California State Insurance Commissioner Dave Jones, Congressmembers Mike Honda and Ami Bera,  and a few dozen other elected officials in addition to the San Jose Police Officers Association.
