Public Hearing on regulating short-term rental units

The Sunnyvale Housing & Human Services Commission is holding a public hearing on regulating short-term residential rental units, in short taking on home sharing services like AirBnB. Staff is looking to establish short-term rental regulations in the zoning code to allow effective enforcement, set up a permit program to establish the requirements for the host and require hosts to pay the permit and the transient occupancy tax. The primary policy question per staff is whether these short-term rentals are appropriate and compatible in residential districts.
