As of 5 pm yesterday, all candidates who had filed to run for Santa Clara City Council had officially selected the specific seat for which they would be vying. Below is the breakdown of the current candidates and the Santa Clara City Council seats they are running for:

A couple of important notes to keep in mind as the Santa Clara races move forward:
- The final day for filing to run is Friday August 12th, therefore other candidates could still file.
- Council Member Jerry Marsalli has indicated he is not seeking re-election for Seat 4. As such, Seat 4 will remain open an additional 5 days for others to file to run in what will become an “Open Seat.”
As the deadline closes in it will be interesting to see who else, if anyone, throws their hat into any already fairly full ring.
