Pierluigi Oliverio’s Fire Truck Stunt Puts Local Company in Hot Water

When former Council Member and candidate for County Supervisor Pierluigi Oliverio decided to ride in a privately owned vintage fire truck during this year’s Rose, White and Blue Parade, he put Joseph J. Albanese, a 3rd-generation, family-owned construction company and owner of the classic fire truck in an awkward position. The use of the fire truck appeared to be an attempt by Oliverio to fool parade onlookers into thinking that San Jose’s police officers and fire fighters support his candidacy. In reality, Oliverio has had an extraordinarily strained relationship with the first responders after he fought to decimate their pensions.

Upon getting wind of the controversy over Oliverio’s deceptive campaign tactic, president of Joseph J. Albanese, Kevin A. Albanese issued a public apology on the company’s Facebook page, along with an explanation.  While Albanese’s apology was well-received and appreciated, many still remember Oliverio’s previous campaign shenanigans, like his theft of an opponent’s campaign signs.  This latest stunt further cements his reputation as a less than forthright character.
