He who lies down with dogs gets up with fleas. Right now, District 1 San Jose City Council candidate Chappie Jones is itching like crazy. Jones political consultant, Victor Ajlouny (Eagle Communications) has just been tied to a trash for cash scheme designed to discredit Police Officer Association Jim President Unland.As evidence mounts of Ajlouny’s culpability, his client Charles “Chappie” Jones has so far remained silent and under the radar. But the voters of District 1 deserve a response from Jones. Will he continue to align himself with the scandal-ridden Ajlouny or will he take a stand in favor of ethical conduct?

The negative, unethical campaign tactics employed by Mayor Chuck Reed’s chief political adviser are well-chronicled. Sheriff Laurie Smith long ago made it a policy to publicly oppose any candidate associated with Ajlouny, even though she, too, is a Republican. believes any candidate who hires Ajlouny has a fatal ethical flaw, which is why she is so adamant in speaking out against any candidate who would hire the man.
Integrity is the most important value a public official must possess. Certainly, given his inexperience and newness to San Jose, Jones could be forgiven for his lapse in judgment in hiring Ajlouny. But now he has no excuse, he is either with the ethical folks or he is not.
Chappie may be scratching his head, the question is whether he is thinking or he simply has fleas.
